Guide

The weather finally turned. Here's what Yuma is doing with it, November through mid-December.

Balloons over the river, beer inside a prison, a 1920s speakeasy, a lighted parade and a whole street of tamales. A short guide to the next seven weeks, with what's confirmed and what isn't.

There's a stretch every year when Yuma remembers it's a nice place to be outside. The snowbirds are back, the mornings are cool enough for a jacket, and every organization in town seems to schedule its big event at once.

That stretch starts now. Here's what's on the calendar, with links to each event's page. Dates and times can change, so check the organizer's link before you head out. Where a price hasn't been posted, we say so instead of guessing.

Early November

YumaCon, Nov. 7-8, Yuma Civic Center. Comics, anime, gaming and the Cosplay Masquerade. Kids 6 and under get in free. Event page

That's Not Me Comedy Tour, Sat., Nov. 7, 8 p.m., Historic Yuma Theatre. Stand-up. Prices weren't posted on the downtown guide. Event page

The big weekend: Nov. 13-15

Same weekend: Banda Machos at Cocopah Event Center on Friday, Nov. 13 (event page), and Journey USA, a Journey tribute, at the Historic Yuma Theatre that night at 8 (event page).

On Saturday the 14th, from 4 to 8 p.m., Fort Yuma Rotary's Pint Fest brings craft beer and live music into the Yuma Territorial Prison. It's the club's big fundraiser. Past years have been 21 and over, so bring ID. Event page

Later in November

Tribute of the Muses, Fri., Nov. 20, 7 p.m., Historic Yuma Theatre. Yuma's 26th annual arts awards. The ceremony is free. Our story on the nominees and the event page.

The Warden's Speakeasy, Sat., Nov. 21, Yuma Territorial Prison. A 1920s night at a 19th-century prison, which is an anachronism I fully support. Gates at 6:30, event 7 to 10. Tickets are $20 and limited. Event page

Into December

Laughter Works Like Medicine, Fri., Dec. 4, 6 p.m., Historic Yuma Theatre. Family-friendly comedy benefiting KCFY 88.1. Event page

Downtown Christmas, Sat., Dec. 5, 1 to 9 p.m., Main Street. The tree lighting, Santa, performances, food and free ice skating. Event page

Desert Difference AgTech Summit, Dec. 9-10. Not exactly a night out, but if you want to see robots in a lettuce field, this is your chance. Our story

Dorothy Young Memorial Electric Light Parade, Sat., Dec. 12, downtown. This year's theme is "America 250." Start time isn't posted yet. If your group wants to be in it, registration closes Nov. 30. Event page

Somerton Tamale Festival, Sat., Dec. 19, Main Street, Somerton. Starts at 11 a.m. Go hungry. Go early. Bring cash just in case. Event page

Still waiting on details

A few regulars haven't posted 2026 specifics yet, so we haven't listed them as confirmed: the Veterans Day Parade on 4th Avenue (traditionally 9 a.m. on Nov. 11, run by American Legion Post 19), the Walk to End Alzheimer's at West Wetlands Park, the Caballeros Holiday Pageant and Tower Lighting (Nov. 28; place and time not posted) and Christmas at the Crossing at Colorado River State Historic Park. We'll add them to the events calendar once the organizers confirm.
