Update, Oct. 29, 2026: The man has now been formally charged with three felony counts: trafficking in stolen property, theft and fraudulent schemes, KYMA reported on Oct. 27. KYMA said he remains in the Yuma County Detention Center on a $200,000 bond. The new report attributes both numbers to police again: that he "stole over $1 million in mechanical parts," and that detectives found almost $3 million spent without authorization, with the items resold at a steep discount on eBay. It still doesn't explain how the two figures relate. We still have not seen the charging documents, and he is presumed innocent.
Two dollar figures appear in the reported Yuma fraud investigation. They should not be treated as interchangeable.
According to KYMA’s Oct. 26 account of Yuma police statements, a local business reported suspected losses of more than $1 million from unauthorized mechanical-parts purchases. Police later alleged that about $2.8 million was spent without authorization, with merchandise resold at discounted prices.
KJZZ separately reported the police allegation of roughly $2.8 million in purchases and discounted resale. These are accounts of the police allegation, not proof of guilt.
KYMA reported that a 40-year-old man was arrested Oct. 21 and booked on felony charges including theft, trafficking in stolen property and fraudulent schemes, with bond set at $200,000. That reported bond is not a separately confirmed current custody status.
Yuma Informed has not reviewed charging documents or obtained a defense response. The accused is presumed innocent. We are not identifying him or the business in this brief.
Neither report explains how the spending figure relates to the business’s loss estimate. The available accounts do not establish a final, court-tested loss amount.
