Aden Arviso pleaded guilty Friday, October 9, to one count of aggravated assault in the 2023 Yuma house-party shooting case, according to KYMA's report. The station says sentencing is scheduled for November 5.

The case stems from the May 13, 2023, shooting on South J. Edward Drive. In its initial coverage, KYMA reported that Yuma police said two people were killed and five others were shot.

Before the plea, the station's October 8 trial report listed two first-degree-murder counts and four aggravated-assault counts against Arviso. Prosecutors requested a status hearing during the fourth day of trial.

KYMA describes the count covered by the plea as a Class 3 felony. Its current report says the agreement requires a minimum of five years in prison and that probation was not offered. The report does not give a maximum term.

The Yuma County Sheriff's Office booking portal identifies him as Aden John Arviso and lists Superior Court case S1400CR202301441. The entry records a January 10, 2024, booking and a writ-related notation. It does not set out the October 9 plea terms or a final sentence.

Yuma Informed has not obtained the signed plea agreement or the October 9 hearing minute entry. Those documents are needed to establish what happens to the other charges, including whether any dismissals are conditional on sentencing. The reported one-count plea does not establish that the murder charges were dismissed.

November 5 is the reported sentencing date, separate from Friday's plea. The eventual prison term, any concurrent or consecutive sentencing provision, and credit for time already served remain unconfirmed in the records available for this article.
